comfort zones

Posted in Group:

hey everybody!
what a wonderful day, i feel so calm, i've gone a few days without binging.
I'm visiting family who happens to be so helpful to this process (although they don't necessarily know it). So i'm taking this time to nourish myself and take things easily... ALSO, i'm reading a GREAT book called Wear Your Life Well by Marilu Henner that is definitely a big portion of this whole healing process.
It asks me to do different exercises, and i felt inspired to share this with support groups..

"The risk of losing some of our comfort in life plays a prominent role in our efforts to attain our goals... It's difficult to create hte life you want until you identify, control, or at least understand your own comfort zones. You also need to be aware of your life goals, so you can recognize which comfort zones you're protecting--and which responsibilities or burdens you may be avoiding." (2)

My comfort zone is definitely HOME, FOOD, and going to sleep early. In the past couple years it has expanded to close friends, which sometimes involves eating together in ways that don't make me feel good... So all of these zones are definitely comfortable but in ways i'm not happy with. And the going to sleep early is because i tend to generally feel sleepy, and going to sleep early means the ability to escape this life/end the day, and hope for a better tomorrow.

What are your comfort zones?

Congrats on your success thus far!! Thanks for sharing the advice. I have learned I have to find what triggers my binging and stay away from the things that influence my eating habits. Good luck and stay strong!

Your comfort zone is a lie, contrary to what you might believe, staying in your comfort zone only provides TEMPORARY comfort.
What's actually happening is that you're letting your mental fear of keep you trapped and overwhelmed. Stepping out of your comfort zone means taking small risk and sometimes going against what your mind tells you is "best judgment." I think what holds many back in their zone is often the overwhelming fear of failure that we'll be embarrassed or humiliated if we try something new and not succeed.

I actually wrote a full article on my blog iusedtobethatguy.com/your-comfort-zone-is-a-lie , please feel free to check it out my other inspirational articles.
